An Ghaeilge

Polasaí

Polasaí an dátheangachais atá ag Comhairle Cathrach Chorcaí. Tá an polasaí leagtha amach inar Scéim Teanga 2007-2010.

Go dtí teacht i réim an tAct Teanga i 2003, cé go raibh  ceartaí ag an bpobal a ghnó a dhéanamh leis an earnail poiblí trid ar dteanga dhucais , ní raibh an dualgas céanna ar an earnáil poiblí na hachmhainní a chur in áit an dualgas seo a chomlíonadh.

‘S é atá anois againn ná an chéad céim eile ar aghaidh chun an dualgas san a chomhlíonadh. Cé go raibh an Chomhairle báiul riamh don Ghaeilge agus chun úsáid na Ghaeilge a chur chun cinn, mar a bhí  soléir riamh ón PLEAN GNÍOMHAÍOCHTA DON GHAEILGE 1997- 2001 a tháinig roimh seo, ‘sé seo ár ngealliúnt don bpobal i gcoitinne feabhas a chur ar réimse na seibhísí a chuirfear ar fail ó seo go ceann 3 bliaina.

Cork City Council has a policy of bilingualism. This policy is set out in the Cork City Council Irish Language Scheme 2007-2010

This document is the result of a long period of consultation and agreement both with the Office of the Minister for Community Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs and  members of the public including bodies with a specific interest and input to furthering the use of the language in everyday life. Long before the Official languages act of 20003 gave an equal and opposite obligation to public bodies to a citizen’s right to transact business with public bodies through the first language, Cork City Council, through its  earlier PLEAN GNÍOMHAÍOCHTA DON GHAEILGE had worked towards providing an avenue for those who wished to transact business with us could do so without great inconvenience.
