Docklands Presentation to I.P.I. on Flood Risk

Seamus Coghlan, Senior Engineer, Docklands delivered a presentation to the Irish Planning Institute (Mid West region) in Limerick on 21 October 2009.  The event was entitled “The Planning System and Flood Risk Management – Guidelines to Local Authorities – Implementation and Impacts”. The event was well attended by planners from Limerick and Cork, engineers and students. Seamus’ presentation was entitled Lee Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management (CFRAM) A Case Study.  It  describes the process by which the flooding regime in Cork, studied in the Lee CFRAMS, impacted on the South Docks Local Area Plan process and the resulting infrastructure required to reduce flood hazard and risk and mitigate residual flood risks.

District Heating Feasibility Study

The Cork Docklands District Heating Feasibility Study was launched on the 21st May 2009 at the Lifetime Lab by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Brian Bermingham, followed by a presentation by Mr. Richard Linger of Viridus (previously White Young Green).  The launch was well attended by a wide variety of stakeholders with a good discussion of the issues and the steps which now need to be taken to move the project forward.
