Cork Heritage Week, a unique event which will showcase heritage and culture in Cork will take place from August 20th to August 28th 2011.
Cork has a rich and diverse heritage and to celebrate Cork Heritage Week a series of events will be organised by Cork City Council, community groups, heritage and historical societies and individuals.
Cork Heritage Week will take place all over the city and will see a range of historic and cultural sites including churches, buildings, stately homes and castles open up to the public. Throughout the week there will be a series of lectures, guided walking tours, historical enactments, exhibitions and demonstrations.
The aim of Cork Heritage Week is to raise awareness and knowledge of heritage in the city. For eight days the best of heritage in Cork will be on display and it is a wonderful occasion to celebrate what makes our cultural heritage, history, folklore, local food and maritime traditions in Cork so unique.
Cork Heritage Week is open to everyone and you can become involved by organising your own event or volunteering with local groups in the area. If you are interested in registering your event or volunteering for Cork Heritage Week please contact Eimear O’Brien PR, Tel: 086 8900364/ firstname.lastname@example.org
Heritage Week is co-ordinated nationally by the Heritage Council with support from the Local Councils and is part of European Heritage Days which is celebrated in over 40 countries. Cork City Council promotes and supports Heritage Week at a local level in Cork City.
