What information does this programme cover?
There are 6 weekly sessions lasting roughly 2 hours. The practical sessions focus on healthy eating on a budget & preparing simple family foods. There is group participation in the cookery/cook along session & participants are encouraged to try the recommended recipes out at home. A community dietitian visits the course on week 5/6 to provide an input and to answer any specific dietary questions.

Session 2– ‘The Fibre Providers’ (Fibre in cereals, fruit & vegetables)
Session 3– ‘Focus on Fats’ (learning about the good & bad fats)
Session 4– ‘Food for Life’ (family eating, children’s diets)
Session 5– ‘Shop Smart’ (Shopping on a budget, food labelling)
Session 6– ‘The Road Ahead’ (planning long term changes in eating habits)

Making Every Contact Count was established to support the implementation of Healthy Ireland in our health services and help people to make healthier lifestyle choices.
Through the programme, health professionals will support patients make healthier lifestyle choices.
During routine consultations, health professionals ask patients about lifestyle behaviours related to chronic disease. The goal of these 'contacts' is to address risk factors for chronic disease. Through these contacts, health professionals will help patients achieve positive long-term behaviour change.

We Can Quit is a free, friendly, and supportive 12-week programme for anyone, who smoke and who want support to quit smoking. The programme offers free nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), a weekly stop smoking group and one to one support.

Social Prescribing is a free, HSE service provided in partnership with NICHE Health Project Cork CLG, which helps to link you with sources of support and social activities within your community.

Social Prescribing is for you if:
About the programme
First you will meet with the Social Prescribing Coordinator. S/he will help you to identify activities or groups you would like to try.
Then you will link with a designated person participating in the activity, to try it out.
After a number of weeks you will have a review with your Social Prescribing Coordinator.
At this stage, if you wish, you may try different activities or groups, to find something that you enjoy. The Social Prescribing coordinator will give you guidance and support.
