SEAI Energy Workshop

Lifetime Lab an education partner for The Sustainable Authority of Ireland (SEAI) offering a series of interactive hands-on energy workshops for Cork primary schools pupils. There are two distinct age and ability appropriate workshops available:

Senior Energy Workshop (3rd - 6th)

Aimed at 3rd to 6th class pupils, senior energy workshops commence with a short presentation with the aid of 3 colourful display panels and cover the topics of energy sources, climate change, CO2 and what we as individuals can do to reduce the amount of energy we use. This is followed by some fun curriculum linked energy experiments, for example, did you know you can make a battery out of a lemon?. Towards the end of the workshop and to reinforce learning, children play Guzzler's Energy Challenge, where the aim of the game is to collect as many energy points as possible - and avoid the dreaded Sin Bin!

Teacher Notes - Senior Energy Workshop

  • One class only per workshop
  • One workshop facilitator will visit your school
  • Workshops are at no cost to your school
  • 3 workshop sessions per day are required (9.30am, 11.00am and 12.30pm)
  • Each workshop session lasts approx 75 mins.
  • We request accompanying teacher remain with class during workshop

Junior Energy Workshop (Snr, 1st, 2nd) 

Join Guzzler the energy eating alien and help him to stop wasting so much energy! This workshop is based on the very popular SEAI’s Guzzler series of education books. Children will discover all about energy efficiency and environmental awareness through participation in various experiments and activities. Suitable for senior infants, 1st and 2nd class pupils. To see a Guzzler workshop in action click http://vimeo.com/36141555

  • One class only per workshop (max 32 pupils)
  • Workshops are at no cost to your school
  • 3 workshop sessions per day are required  
  • Session lasts 45-60 mins.
  • We request accompanying teacher remain with class during workshop
