Sports Development Officer

Our Sports Development Officer, Gary O'Sullivan, is available on request to provide assistance to sporting clubs and groups in the city in relation to starting up new clubs, the availability of facilities and venues, coaching courses, etc.

Gary is also available to assist youth groups and community groups in providing after-school sports activities to young people.

Sports on the Green

Cycling on the Green Blarney Life Centre at FitzGerald's Park, Cork 

We're currently running an extensive series of Sports on the Green including soccer, in collaboration with the FAI and the Cork Sports Partnership, and rugby, with Munster Rugby and the Cork Community Gardaí.

 

Outdoor Gyms

Cork City Council Installs Eleven New Outdoor Gyms

 

Cork City Council, in association with Cork Sports Partnership and Cork Education and Training Board, are in the process of installing eleven new outdoor gyms in our Parks around the city. These clustered Callisthenic Gyms, with age-friendly and accessible elements, have proven very popular at Tramore Valley Park, Harty’s Quay and Ballincollig Regional Park. The new locations are:

  • POPHAM'S PARK, FARRANFERRIS GREEN, FARRANREE, CORK

Free Outdoor Gym Sessions for Corks Lifelong Learning Festival, Book your place using the link for the class of your choice below. Walk-ons are also accepted.

April 10th 2024

Clashduv Park - Togher at 3:30 pm

John O Callaghan Park - Glanmire at 3:30 pm

Meelick Park - Ballyvolane at 5:00 pm

Murphys Farm - Bishopstown at 5:00 pm

 

April 17th 2024

Ballycannon Park - Kerrypike at 3:30 pm

The Lough at 3:30 pm

Clougheenmilcon Sanctuary Walkway - Blarney at 5:00 pm

Tramore Valley Park at 5:00 pm

 

These sessions are all about giving people knowledge and the confidence to come to these gyms with a friend, a parent or a sibling and use themselves. This program is starting off with five locations, Gerry O’Sullivan Park, Tramore Valley Park, John O’Callaghan Park, Murphy’s Farm and Lough Mahon but will be rolled out to other areas in due course.
