Donnybrook Hill Pedestrian Improvement Scheme

Works Extent

Cork City Council, in conjunction with the National Transport Authority intend to upgrade approximately 1.4km of Donnybrook Hill, Douglas, Cork. The purpose of this upgrade is to provide enhanced pedestrian, cyclist and public transport facilities and traffic calming. A preliminary design of this section of road has been carried out to provide necessary pedestrian, cycle and public transport facilities, remove “pinch points” along the corridor and provide traffic calming in accordance with national and international best practice.

Part 8 Planning has been approved for this scheme.  Cork City Council proposes to complete the remaining elements of this scheme in line with the Part 8 documents.

Objectives

  • Provide continuous, safe and desirable pedestrian facilities along the length of Donnybrook Hill from Grange Cross to the north as far as Castletreasure Grove to the south;
  • Provide Traffic calming facilities as necessary along this section of road due to excessive vehicular speeds.

Timeline

Detailed Design & Statutory Processes complete 2021. Commence Construction Q4 2022.
