Covid 19 - English Market Update

Cork’s English Market has been the beating heart of Cork City for over 230 years.

In the face of famine, flood, war and multiple recessions, generations of traders have continued to serve the best of local and international produce to the people of Cork.  Now isn’t any different.  We want to remain open to serve you, the customer.  The English Market is, above all else, a food market for essential fresh produce.

We have taken extra precautions to make shopping in the market safer for all our customers, including: -

  • - controlling numbers in the market;
  • - enhanced cleaning and sanitising;
  • - signage and security to encourage social distancing.

Please note the wearing of face masks is mandatory in the market.

As this is a rapidly evolving situation, we will continue to ensure public health guidelines are followed.  We would ask our customers to also take extra precautions - to practice good hygiene and to keep distances whilst in the market.

Customers, particularly vulnerable customers should avoid our busiest times (Friday and Saturday from 12-3pm).

Naturally, we continue to monitor public health guidelines.
