Cork Mini Boat Artwork on display

This mini boat sailed across the Atlantic Ocean from Charleston, South Carolina, USA eventually arriving in Cork. The boat is due to be relaunched in late September to continue its ocean journey. To prepare for the adventure home Old Cork Waterworks Experience, Cork City Council and Creative Ireland invited Cork primary school children to submit designs inspired by Cork and its special relationship with the ocean. Almost 300 individual submissions were received and used to create the collage which is visible in the images below. The mini boat is currently on display at Old Cork Waterworks Experience and the artwork is also to be transformed into a virtual exhibition and feature in a mini boat pocketbook to mark the project.

A striking feature is the use of artwork to create the letters for "CORK" on the deck of the boat further highlighting our maritime heritage.
