Cork City Local Community Development Committee launches 2018 Community Enhancement Programme

Cork City Local Community Development Committee (LCDC) wishes to invite applications for the 2018 Community Enhancement Programme.

The Community Enhancement Programme (CEP) will provide capital funding to enhance facilities in disadvantaged communities across Cork as identified in the Local Economic and Community Plan (LECP) for Cork City.

The CEP programme can fund or partially fund larger scale capital projects to address disadvantage. Some CEP funding is ring-fenced to provide small capital grants between €1,000 and €5,000. This is aimed at assisting small grassroots community projects to get off the ground.

All applications must reference LCDC prioritised target groups and LECP priorities.

The following will be considered eligible for the programme:

  • Locally based community and voluntary groups,
  • Not-for-profit organisations,
  • Government Departments and State Agencies (in cases of leveraging funding),
  • Projects with a clearly defined community and social cohesion focus,
  • Eligible facilities will include community centres, youth clubs, sports/recreation facilities and other not-for-profit organisations facilities.

The Programme is being administered by Cork City Local Community Development Committee and funded by the Department of Rural and Community Development.

Chairperson of the Cork City LCDC Cllr. Fergal Dennehy welcomed the 2018 Community Enhancement Programme by saying:

“I am delighted to welcome the Community Enhancement Programme for Cork City. This programme is aimed at grassroots projects who often find it challenging to access small amounts of funding for capital initiatives. This programme will provide much needed additional funding to communities across Cork City to enhance facilities in disadvantaged areas”.

Further details in relation to the Community Enhancement Programme 2018 including application forms for funding can be found at Community Enhancement Programme.
