An outdoor event is defined as a public performance which takes place mainly in the open air or in a structure with no roof or a partial, temporary or retractable roof, a tent or similar temporary structure and which consists of music, dancing, displays of public entertainment or any activity of a like kind.
Where an outdoor public event comprises of an audience of 5,000 or more people, the organiser is required to obtain an Outdoor Events Licence from the Cork City Council. This is in accordance with the Planning & Development Act 2000-2010 (as amended) and Part 16 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended).
A summary of the changes are listed below:-
Applications for both pre-consultation meetings and outdoor event licences must be submitted to Planning Development Management, Community, Culture & Placemaking Directorate, City Hall, Cork.
Cork Mental Health Foundation have applied to Cork City Council for a Licence to hold 1 no. event in accordance with Part XVI of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended). The event will comprise an outdoor event to be held in Fitzgerald’s Park on Sunday 21st July 2024.
The application can be viewed and inspected at Cork City Council's planning public counter, Ground Floor, New Civic Offices, between the hours of 10am and 4pm, Monday to Friday.
Article 190 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended) states that:
(1) Any person may make a submission or observation in writing to the local authority in respect of the application within 3 weeks of the receipt of the application by the local authority.
(2) A submission of observation under sub-article (1) shall not be considered by the local authority unless it -
(i) states the name of the person or organisation making the submission or observation, and
(ii) indicates the residential or business address to which any correspondence relating to the application should be sent.
