Shining a *new* light on the Winter season, Cork City Council invites you to step into a wondrous world of light and sound as you enjoy the buzz in Cork city.
SOLAS is a large scale public lighting installation taking place this year on Emmet Place, the plaza outside the Crawford Gallery and Cork Opera House, which will be transformed into an immersive, interactive lightscape to enthrall audiences both young and old.
Stroll through this enchanting, otherworldly space, and enjoy watching the lights pulse, fade and flash in time to the strains of music floating through the air. Stand within the installation and let yourself be absorbed by a 360* light show where a canopy of overhead orbs create and diffuse a rainbow of colour in time to the music.
The SOLAS light and sound experience will run 7 days from November 18th to December 21st, from 4pm to 11pm daily.
Unfortunately, due to Strong Winds, Solas on Thursday 21st December has been cancelled.

Members of the public can have a go at conducting the illuminations themselves - via a state of the art, interactive touch screen. Sweep your fingertips across the screen and watch the world light up before your very eyes! (No advance booking but subject to availability at the time of your visit)
In addition, at weekends starting 24th November there will also be a schedule of musical performances from the stage, including Christmas Carols, sing-alongs and other entertainment sure to have broad appeal. See the schedule here: Corkmas Stage at Emmet Place - Cork City Council
SOLAS provides the perfect backdrop for your family day out in the heart of the city - a chance to pause in wonder and let the seasonal spirit illuminate you from within.
SOLAS has been funded under Fáilte Ireland’s Urban Animation Scheme
