John Neville Plays

Description: 

Call in to Douglas Library for a unique opportunity to hear Cork legend John Neville perform.

John has recorded two albums with North Cregg …And They Danced All Night (1999) and Mi Daza (2001). He has had songs recorded by Vanessa Rudden (Cotton Wool on Blue), Danish band Moving Cloud (Pressganged Paddy), American band Two Tap Trio (Goodbye Waltz) and Irish band Deluce’s Patent (Cotton Wool on Blue).

His tragic song The Wobbling Man received an acclaimed mention in the New York Times by the writer Jennifer Finney Boylan in her piece, Ireland’s Transition, and Mine (18th October 2017), after a trip to Cork where she had previously lectured for a period at UCC in 1998.

Douglas Ladies Choir

Description:

The Choir was founded in 1961, and they have taken part in many competitions in both Ireland and Wales. They meet every Monday in the Douglas ICA Hall under the Musical Director Regina Gilley.

Music with Colin McLean

Description: 

Join us for an afternoon of music with Colin McLean. Colin has been performing throughout the country for the past 15 years. He has played classical guitar in every major concert hall in Ireland including National Concert Hall, Cork Opera House and the Concert Hall Limerick. He has toured with many different groups encompassing various genres. He has played concertos with orchestras and given solo, duo, trio and quartet recitals both at home and abroad.
