More Details:

Cork City Libraries’ Poetry in the Park series will present twelve new poems written for the 20th edition of The Unfinished Book of Poetry in 2024.

The anthology features new poetry from Transition Year writers representing five Cork schools. Each year student writers undergo a series of nine workshops led by established poets. The workshops take place between November and March and the book is launched by the Lord Mayor of Cork. This year’s schools include Christ King Girls' Secondary School, St. Vincent's Secondary School, St. Angela's College, Coláiste an Spioraid Naoimh and Gaelcholáiste Choilm.

Since 2005 over 700 young writers have been published in the Unfinished Book of Poetry. The project is a collaboration between Cork City Libraries, Cork City Council Arts Office and Ó Bhéal. The Poetry in the Parks installations will be displayed in Fitzgerald’s Park, Tramore Valley Park, Ballincollig Regional Park, Marina Park, Gerry O’Sullivan Park and Blarney Sanctuary Walkway, on the 15th June 2024 and this will be part of the 2024 Cruinniú na nÓg festival.

Audio recordings of the twelve poets reading these poems will also be accessible via QR code.
