Some information for voters
Local Elections take place every 5 years and allow allow people to elect councillors to represent them.
Friday 7 June 2024, from 7am to 10pm will be the polling day.
You can check if your name is on the register of electors, at your current address, by visiting www.CheckTheRegister.ie
If you want to vote in these elections, you must be registered to vote by Monday, 20 May 2024.
If you are eligible, you can apply to be included on the Postal Voters List or the Special Voters List up to 11 May 2024.
Some information for candidates
If you wish to stand for election to a local authority in Ireland, you must be nominated. The Nomination period is from 10am on Saturday 11 May 2024 to 12 noon on Saturday 18 May 2024 (excluding Sunday 12 May 2024). Submission of nomination papers is by appointment only with the Local Returning Officer Paul Moynihan, Cork City Council, City Hall, Cork.
