Cork City Council and The Glucksman will present Bandfield -The Mardyke 300 Music Concerts, beginning at Fitzgerald's Park, this Thursday July 25th, and continuing throughout 2019.
Soul and R&B act Shookrah will kick off the celebrations at 7pm on Thursday, July 25th. The Cork Butter Exchange Band will pay homage to Fitzgerald's Park’s long history of Big Brass performances at 7pm on August 29th. Talented young rap artists from the Kabin Studio will take to the stage at 1pm on September 20th.
World music group Citadel, who bring together a diverse range of voices from Kinsale Road Direct Provision Centre, will perform a 1pm lunchtime show at The Glucksman on the October 9th. The Glucksman will also partner with The Cork Jazz Festival for a performance on October 26th at 1pm and host a Fuaim lunchtime concert on November 1st.
Bandfield celebrates the 300 year history of the Mardyke area as a destination for leisure and sport in Cork City. Other initiatives in the Mardyke 300 series include a large-scale site specific artwork by artist Deirdre Breen, the establishment of a Graffitti wall along Ferry Walk and the forthcoming publication of an updated history of the area by Richard T Cooke.
