Cork City Council Announce ‘Creative Faces’, a special challenge for all Cork City’s young creatives as part of Cruinniú na nÓg 2022!
Organised by Cork City Council in conjunction with Creative Ireland, Cruinniú na Óg will take place in Cork city on Saturday June 11th. The national day of creativity will feature over 40 free interactive and imaginative events for children and young people hosted by 39 Cork creative organisations.
In celebration of Cruinniú na nÓg, Cork City Council invites children and young people to transform faces; theirs, their parent’s or their friend’s, take a photo and send it into the Arts Office where they will be in with an opportunity to win a range of prizes.
We are calling on all Cork’s young masters of disguise and make up artists, to bring their creative ideas to life using faces as a canvas. There are two themes for this challenge: ‘Creative Look’ and ‘Inspired Look’. Entries from 10s And Under category and 11-18’s category are welcome in either theme.
The ‘Creative Look’ category is an open theme that invites imaginative and experimental responses. While the ‘Inspired Look’ category is especially for entries on a specific topic of importance to children or young people. Whether that is ‘World Peace’ or ‘Fun for All’, this is a chance for inspirational ideas from the upcoming generation.
So, whether you decide to let your imagination fly free or apply your skills to represent the issues on your mind, we encourage you to have fun! Don’t forget to take a photo of your creation and send it, along your entry form and signed consent of your parent or guardian, to creativecall@corkcity.ie . Entry forms are available to download from https://www.corkcity.ie/en/cruinniu-na-nog/creative-faces-competition/ or you can email creativecall@corkcity.ie to receive an email version.
Entries to the ‘Creative Look’ theme will be judged by Glow Up Semi-Finalist and Make Up Artist Jade Foley from Knocknaheeny in Cork City. Jade is a Cork-based makeup artist that creates looks from natural & soft to full-blown body art. She takes inspiration from everyday objects such as magnets, patterns on clothes and even food. She is known on TikTok for her skills as well as her Irish humour, which she incorporates into her videos to bring an extra bit of entertainment.
Entries to the ‘Inspired Look’ theme will be judged by young members of Cork City’s Comhairle na nÓg, one of 31 child and youth councils based in local authorities around Ireland, which give children and young people the opportunity to be involved in the development of local services and policies. According to Comhairle na nÓg “We are delighted to support an opportunity to show off what’s on your mind on your body! Creative Faces is a way for young people of all ages to display their artistic talents and what inspires them at the same time. It’s just one of the amazing creative activities taking place as part of Cruinniú na nÓg Cork City 2022.”
Closing date for all entries is midnight Sunday 12th June 2022.
