Come along to an information day at the Firkin Crane (Dance Cork Firkin Crane) tomorrow, Saturday 17th August, to help shape the future development and revitalisation of this historic neighbourhood.
Cork City Council and their project partners AtkinsRéalis, John McLaughlin Architects and the Shandon Community are developing an ambitious heritage led Integrated Urban Strategy (IUS) for the Shandon Area. The strategy will set out a visual, action-based roadmap for the future development and revitalisation of this historic neighbourhood.
‘Let’s Talk Shandon’ is a process that allows you to influence and shape the strategy, helping Cork City Council to create a clear, visual and action-based roadmap for the future development and revitalisation of the neighbourhood. In addition to several engagement events, 'Let's Talk Shandon' involves the establishment of the Shandon Neighbourhood Team, a group of local workers and residents who will help steer and facilitate the work.
The project is funded through the Government’s Town Centre First Heritage Revival Scheme (THRIVE) and is guided by a collaborative and place-based approach, part of which is extensive community consultation.
At this early stage, Cork City Council would like to gather local knowledge and insights to ensure the strategy meets the needs of those who use it most.
