Cork City Council wish to advise that due to predicted heavy rainfall in the coming hours, it is likely that some roads & parking areas along low-lying quays in the city centre may suffer some localised flooding during this evening’s high tide; i.e. Morrison’s Quay, Fr Matthew Quay, Trinity Bridge, Union Quay, Sharman Crawford Street, Wandesford Quay, Frenche’s Quay, Proby’s Quay, Crosses Green, Lavitt’s Quay, Kyrl’s Quay.
Spot flooding may also occur in other areas around Cork City.
Road users are advised to proceed with caution. High tide times of note are as follows:

As forecasted weather and tidal conditions are variable at this time, Cork City Council is continuing to monitor the situation closely and our crews are on standby. Please stay alert for further updates, should forecast conditions change.

Met Éireann has issued a Status Orange wind and rainfall warning for Cork that is in effect from 9 p.m. on Friday 18 August until 3 a.m. on Saturday 19 August 2023.
Winds are expected to be severe and as a result Cork City Council asks that you please take the following measures:
* Please secure loose items such as wheelie bins, garden furniture, trampolines etc.
* Don't make any unnecessary journeys during that time.
* We are preparing to address any damage that might result from the severe winds. Our emergency crews are on standby.
* We are also asking that all construction sites are made secure in advance of high winds, including plant, materials, and fencing.
If you must travel during this period, road users are asked to proceed with caution, as there may be spot flooding or fallen debris on roads.
