As the country’s gradual reopening progresses, Cork City Council continues to put measures in place to ensure the health and wellbeing of residents, shoppers, workers and visitors.
A deep clean of city streets has taken place, work around the reimagination of our streetscapes is continuing and further measures are being undertaken to support social distancing by traders and shoppers.
Cork City Council will be reintroducing on-street parking charges from Monday June 8.
Cork City Council waived on street parking charges and offered free parking at its two multi storey car parks, Paul St and North Main since Covid-19 restrictions began 12 weeks ago, in support of essential workers who needed to access the City at this critical time.
As set out in national Government guidance, on street parking enforcement and charges will return from next Monday.
Free parking will continue at Paul St and North Main Street multi-storey car parks. There are over 900 parking spaces between both sites. This will be subject to ongoing review.
The Black Ash Park & Ride facility is also reopening to customers from Monday. Please note that while the Park & Ride opening times and usage charges will return to normal, due to ongoing COVID 19 restrictions on capacity in Public Transport, the bus capacity will be significantly reduced to approximately 20% of normal levels.
This may mean that passengers will experience delays at peak times in accessing the bus transport. We ask for your continued patience and understanding at this difficult time and would recommend that the best times to travel to and from the facility in the bus is during off peak times.
Cork City Council Director of Operations, David Joyce said: “ We have been working hard with our partners to support the reopening of the city and to create the conditions that everyone can feel confident that they can once more begin to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the city after this difficult time.
