Cork City Council is welcoming a 20% increase in the number of passengers using the extended Park and Ride Service.
The 20% increase was recorded in the first three days of the new extended 'super 7' service.
Since last Thursday when traffic was re-routed in Cork city centre, the Black Ash Park and Ride service (route 213) has increased its operational hours from 7am to 8pm Monday to Saturday and introduced additional stops on Merchants Quay, St Patricks St, Grand Parade & South Mall. It is also free from 12 noon Monday to Saturday.
The Roads and Transportation Directorate say the re-introduction of the St Patrick's St bus corridor has worked well so far with the majority of motorists complying with the new traffic arrangements.
"Currently, Cork City Council and An Garda Siochana are focussing on providing guidance on the new arrangements so that members of the public have an opportunity to understand the new changes," a spokesman said.
