Grange Road to Tramore Valley Park

Works Extent

The Project involved the construction of a new cycle and pedestrian route connecting the Grange Road to the Tramore Valley Park.  The proposed route follows an existing trail from Amberley Heights to the west of Alden Grove.

The scheme consisted of the construction of a 4m wide track circa 995m long with a 60m bridge crossing the N40 South Ring Road with ancillary works.  It also included two culverts to cross the existing stream, various earth retaining structures, public lighting and CCTV with associated duct work.

Objectives

  • Enhanced connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists;
  • A safe and direct off-road route for commuters, school goers and leisure enthusiasts;
  • An environment which will encourage modal shift to sustainable forms of transport;
  • Improve quality of life for residents in the area;
  • Part of the overall cycle network;
  • Reduction in traffic volumes on the road network.

Timeline

Start: The works were funded by the NTA and Jons Civil Engineering Limited were appointed as Contractors for the project, commencing on site in April 2022.

Finish: Substantial completion was achieved in October 2023.
