Cork Northern Distributor Multi Modal Route

Works Extent

The Project aims to identify the route for the Cork Northern Distributor Multi-Modal Route. The proposed road is indicatively outlined in the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy (CMATS) as per the graphic below.  The Cork Northern Distributor Multi-Modal Route will provide for orbital movement for bus, pedestrian, cycle and some strategic and/or general traffic thereby reducing reliance on radial routes through Cork City Centre.

Objectives

This project entails:

• An Options Appraisal Process will be undertaken to select a preferred route for the Cork Northern Distributor Multi-Modal Route with emphasis on sustainable transport infrastructure;
• Once the proposed route is finalised certainty regarding the planned development of adjoining areas can be provided;
• A cost estimate of the likely overall cost is to be produced of the scheme to inform the next phase/s of its delivery;
• A Project Execution Plan is to be provided for the full provision of the proposed road and its associated works.

Timeline

 The route selection and associated reports are expected to be completed in Q3 2024.
