Information on the Upcoming Local Elections

The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, Darragh O’Brien has confirmed that local and European elections will be held on June 7, 2024

In Cork City, 31 Members representing 5 Local Electoral Area (LEAs) will be elected.

Nominations

The period for receipt of nominations for the local elections begins at 10 am on Saturday, May 11 2024 and ends at 12 noon on Saturday, May 18 2024.

Voter Registration

Who can vote in this election?

All Cork City residents of any nationality, aged 18 or over on or before polling day, who are on the Electoral Register are eligible to vote in the Local Elections.

If you are a first time voter or looking to update your electoral details, applications can be made online by using www.CheckTheRegister.ie .

Paper applications are also available for download from the website or you can request a form from Cork City Council’s Franchise Section – 021 4924000 myvote@corkcity.ie

Application Closing Dates

  • Closing Date for inclusion in the Postal/Special Voter List is Saturday, May 11 2024
  • Closing Date for inclusion in the Electoral Register as a standard voter is Monday, May 20 2024

Count Centre

Cork City Hall will be the count centre for Cork City Local Elections with the count beginning on June 8 and likely lasting at least 2 days.
