Cork City Council's Choice Based Letting System

The Choice Based Letting Scheme (CBL) went live on Wednesday, 4th November 2015.  The website is available at

Dwellings will be advertised on a weekly basis from 9 a.m. Wednesdays to 5 p.m. Tuesdays.  You need to log in every week to check the dwellings for that week and if you wish to place an expression of interest, you will need to do so by 5 p.m.  the Tuesday of that week.  It is advised that you give yourself plenty of time and not leave it to the last day.

The Choice Based Letting scheme will work on the basis that future available selected housing stock nominated as ‘bid dwellings’ will be advertised on a dedicated website and applicants will be asked to submit an expression of interest on a ‘bid dwelling’ for which they are qualified to apply.

All social housing support applicants have received details of how to log into the website.  Applicants for social housing support requiring assistance can contact our helplines on 021 4924237, 021 4924315, 021 4924306 or 021 4924593.  If you receive a voicemail, please leave your name and phone number and we will return your call.

If you do not have access to the internet, you are welcome to come into the Council Offices to use our computers.  Our staff will be happy to help you.  You can also go to your local library to use the internet.

In the event that there is more than one applicant interested in any one dwelling for which ‘expressions of interest’ are invited on the Choice Based Lettings dedicated website, the allocation will be in accordance with the Order of Priority in the Allocations Scheme.  Only the successful applicant will be contacted for interview.

Any offers will continue to be subject to a review of Social Housing Assessment, Garda and Estate Management Clearance in accordance with the Allocation Scheme.

Please note that the number of Areas of Choice has now changed to three:

  • Northside - (previously Knocknaheeny, Churchfield, Fairhill, Gurranabraher,  Blackpool, Glen, Ballyvolane, Farranree, Mayfield, Tivoli).
  • Southside - (previously Togher and Model Farm Road, Turners Cross, Greenmount, Ballyphehane, Blackrock, Boreenmanna Road, Mahon and Douglas).
  • City Centre – (including Middle Parish, Noonan Road, Fort Street, Douglas Street, and Coach Street).

Please note that most units will be designated for Choice Based Letting and you should therefore log in every week to check the dwellings for that week.  Please note that elderly units and dwellings that are wheelchair accessible will not be available under Choice Based Letting.
