Cork City Council is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020

This accessibility statement applies to the Cork City Council Website and is not responsible for the accessibility of external sites linked from https://www.corkcity.ie/en/.  

Compliance Status 

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 level AA, due to the exemptions listed below.  

Non-Accessible Content 

Some content on Cork City Council’s website does not fully comply with the European Union (Accessibility of Websites and Mobile Applications of Public Sector Bodies) Regulations 2020. For example: 

  •  Incorrect heading sizes
    • We are working with our CMS provider to address these issues on an ongoing basis 
  • Videos without subtitles
    • Our staff are reviewing and improving the accessibility of videos and are working to address identified issues on an ongoing basis. 
  • NVDA (NonVisual Desktop Access screen reader) with a keyboard reads out sub articles even when they aren't open
    • We are working with our CMS provider to address these issues on an ongoing basis 
  • Logos and Scalable Vector Graphics without alternative text
    • We are working with our CMS provider to address these issues on an ongoing basis 
  • Buttons not labelled or not correctly labelled
    • We are working with our CMS provider to address these issues on an ongoing basis. Most have been fixed since the last review in January 2024 and we will rectify the remainder this year.
  • Navigation links have low colour contrast
    • We are working with our CMS provider to address these issues on an ongoing basis. Most have been fixed since the last review in January 2024 and we will rectify the remainder this year.
  • PDFs have low colour contrast
    • Our staff are reviewing and improving the accessibility of pdfs and are working to address identified issues by transferring forms to online services and documents to interactive online flippingbooks on an ongoing basis. 
Preparation of this Accessibility Statement 

This statement was prepared on 19/12/2023 by Cork City Council following an accessibility audit carried out by a third party on the Cork City Council website against all relevant WCAG 2.1 AA Success Criteria.  

This website has an 80% compliance score according to the NDA (National Disability Authority) review process.

The statement was last reviewed on 10/10/2024.
