The Backwater Artists Group, Cork Printmakers and Lavit Gallery

Address:Wandesford Quay

Guided tour at 1pm and at 2pm

Backwater Artists Group, Cork Printmakers and the Lavit Gallery are located on Wandesford Quay. This three-bay, four-storey warehouse was originally built around 1840 and restored in 1995. Its first use was as a grain store, probably for the nearby distillery. Subsequently it became a timber yard and Coleman’s Printers.

Backwater Artists Group is an artist’s studio complex that offers facilities for artists to produce and present art. Cork Printmakers is a print studio that offers artists and the public a creative and technical environment in which to make and engage with art. The Lavit Gallery showcases art made by Cork based and national artists.

A guided tour of the historic aspects of the building as well as the functionality and the repurposing of the heritage spaces will take place at 1pm and at 2pm. Book a tour via Cork Printmakers Eventbrite.

The tour is divided in three parts and you will be guided through the building by its current occupiers, learning the heritage as well as the way the building has been adapted to become a home to the Lavit Gallery, Cork Printmaker's and Backwater Artists Group.

Each segment of the tour delves into the history of the building as part of Cork's heritage story. You will be led by representative from each of the organisations that now share the spaces to continue Cork's cultural journey.
