Beamish & Crawford Quarter Project works progressing on South Main Street

17/01/2025

Works are continuing on the Beamish & Crawford Quarter, which will see the renewal of the public realm around the medieval core of Cork City – South Main Street, Tuckey Street and Proby’s Quay.

Works on the installation of new granite paving and macadam roadway on the western side of  South Main Street are being completed but in order to now complete the eastern side, a temporary road closure has been put in place until 28 February.  South Main Street will be closed from its junction at Washinton Street to its junction at Sullivan’s Quay during this period.  Pedestrians will still be able to walk down South Main Street and access to homes and businesses along the street will be maintained. The cycle lane will be closed during this period.

The 214 and 216 bus services will be diverted during the closure, and Bus Éireann have information on the diversions on their website, www.buseireann.ie

Users of the “Park It Here” car park are asked to use the Grand Parade entrance and exit for the duration of the works.

We thank everyone for their patience while we work to complete this transformative public realm project.
