The Marina Market has Cork on a Fork festival fever this year with a host of events taking place on Wednesday 14th and Thursday 15th August. Look forward to The Marina Kitchen, which will have some fantastic cooking demos and talks at the pop-up Cork on Fork stage; Eat Cinema, an interactive food cinema experience; and Feastival, a night celebrating all the best of the Marina Market with a festival atmosphere.

Pizza-Making 101 - how to make pizza at home for beginners

Learn how to make pizza at home, using ingredients you can get in the supermarket. Participants will make their own dough & learn how to shape & top a pizza. Everyone will get a pizza on the day and you'll also bring home dough to practice at home. This is an ideal workshop for a family group.

Join Knocknaheeny Community Garden for a delightful day where you can pick fresh produce from the garden, enjoy live music and much more. This event is open to everyone.  Come together to celebrate the spirit of community and the joy of gardening.

Handbuild an Empty Bowl with sculptor Martha Cashman

Discover your inner artist, and learn about the ancient craft of hand building with clay in this 2.5 hour ceramic workshop. You will design, create and build a unique, contemporary bowl or platter that you can use daily in your kitchen, safe for food use or simply hung on the wall as your very own personal art piece or even frame it after. You will learn the fundamental techniques of hand building, sculpting and texturing a slab of clay. Martha will fire the work twice, once to bisc, I will then glaze it and fire again to a high fired glaze finish. The work will be ready in 3 weeks for collection or postage can be arranged. In this workshop Martha will address two of our Sustainability Goals 2: Zero Hunger and 16: Peace and Justice and Strong Institutions.

Hysterical Histories Dinner and Show at Amicus

Written and delivered by professional Irish actors, this jam-packed, laugh-out-loud dinner performance celebrates all things Cork.  Over two hours, discover the highlights of Cork’s 1500-year history and become acquainted with a county full of quirky characters, their habits, humour, and language, while you enjoy local Cork food and drinks, live music and plenty of interaction with the actors. Leave with a belly full of food, a warm feeling in your heart and a new skill, having learned how to “speak Cork.”  Located upstairs at Amicus, heart of the city’s historic Huguenot Quarter.

Children (and accompanying adults if they wish) can sample bite-size child-friendly local food as they wander through the city. They will also hear fun and interesting facts about food and history in Cork. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Bread and Butter Making Workshop and Family Fun at The Butter Museum

There will be a number of demonstrations taking place outside the The Butter Museum including a demonstration on the making of traditional soda bread and butter. A delicious, fun and educational afternoon tea event for families at Perry Street. Indulge in a lip-licking honey-themed children's afternoon tea while learning about honeybees from a local award-winning beekeeper, Hanna from Hanna’s Bees. Hanna will talk about life as a beekeeper and guide you through the fascinating process of how honey is made, all the way from flower to the hive to the jar! Meet some of Hanna’s Native Irish Honey Bees up close and personal in a glass-walled hive, engage in charming bee-themed colouring activities, and discover how you can help our native bees and other pollinators. A Q&A session with Hanna will provide an opportunity to have all your bee and honey-related questions answered. Every child will also receive a small gift from Hanna’s Bees. Parents are welcome to order from the main menu, but please register your attendance in advance for accurate numbers.
