Some of the world's leading companies including Apple have located their European headquarters here due to a wealth of educated talent across various degree disciplines, a highly collaborative and supportive business eco-system and strong connectivity to European markets. 

Pharmaceuticals and Life Sciences

Cork’s Pharmaceutical and Life Sciences sector is rapidly expanding, over the last ten years over €10 billion has been invested in new facilities. Seven of the ten of the world’s top pharmaceutical companies including Janssen, AbbVie, Eli Lilly, Pfizer, Merck/MSD, Novartis, and Thermo Fisher Scientific call Cork home.

In total there are now over thirty companies operating in the sector that employ over 10,000 people.

Cork city’s financial services sector which is comprised of over thirty international companies is rapidly expanding thanks to expansions in fund administration, fin-tech, risk management, compliance, and insurance with companies such as BNY Mellon, Citco, Alter Domus and Apex located in Cork City.

IT@Cork of Ireland’s most established and connected technology clusters, it@Cork represents over 200 tech and tech enabled companies in the South West of Ireland. A not for profit organisation, it@cork works with academia, industry, local government and state agencies to provide networking, upskilling and collaboration opportunities and we promote our member organisations as well as the region as a technology excellence hub. it@cork is a member of the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP).

Energy Cork

Energy Cork is an industry-driven cluster pursuing coordinated actions to strengthen enterprise and employment within the energy sector in the Cork region. Energy Cork is supported by Cork City Council and Cork County Council through their respective Economic Development Funds, Energy Cork was conceived by Cork Chamber with a view to building on the unique opportunities for the region to secure competitive advantage in the energy sector.
