Cork Trout Anglers Association

This collection illustrates the last 100 years of history of Cork Trout Anglers Association. Originally conceived in 1905 as Cork Anglers Association, the association changed its name and mission to Trout Anglers conforming to the Ministry of Fisheries scheme in 1925. The collection consists of 3-minute books c. 1924 to 1997 that showcase the associations’ new resolution to re-stock Munster’s rivers and lakes with trout to conserve the environment. It also includes 82 multimedia promos i.e., pamphlets, flyers, notice cards and 71 newspaper clippings to numerous competitions such as O’Connell Cup, Roche Cup, Pike Killing Competitions. 59 correspondence documents and 20 ephemera highlight the associations’ efforts to repopulate trout and their struggle after the vandalism of Blarney’s River Shournagh hatchery which led to their dissolution in 2012-2013.
