Minor flood risk warning Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th October 2022

Cork City Council’s Flood Assessment Team met this afternoon as high astronomical Spring tides are forecast again this evening. 
It is likely that some roads & parking areas along low-lying quays in the city centre may suffer localised flooding during high tides eg  Morrison’s Quay, Fr. Matthew Quay, Trinity Bridge, Union Quay, Sharman Crawford Street, Wandesford Quay, Frenche’s Quay, Proby’s Quay, Crosses Green, Lavitt’s Quay, Kyrl’s Quay and South Terrace, Rutland Street, Sawmill Street and South Mall. High tide is expected at 19.34 tonight.

Please note heavy rain is also expected this evening which could lead to spot flooding. Commuters are advised to drive with care. 
 Cork City Council crews will be deployed across the city and when necessary, road restrictions will be put in place to ensure smooth flow of traffic in impacted areas. 

In further weather news, there is no flood risk expected over the Bank Holiday Weekend.

Cork City Council’s Flood Assessment Team met this afternoon due to a forecasted period of high astronomical Spring tides this evening (Wednesday) and tomorrow (Thursday) morning and evening.

Commuters are advised to drive with care when travelling into the city centre this evening and tomorrow morning. Crews will be deployed across the city. When necessary, road restrictions will be put in place to ensure smooth flow of traffic in impacted areas. Parking will  also be restricted later tonight on Morrisons Island due to flood risk in the morning. It is likely that some roads & parking areas along low-lying quays in the city centre may suffer localised flooding during high tides e.g.  Morrison’s Quay, Fr. Matthew Quay, Trinity Bridge, Union Quay, Sharman Crawford Street, Wandesford Quay, Frenche’s Quay, Proby’s Quay, Crosses Green, Lavitt’s Quay, Kyrl’s Quay and South Terrace, Rutland Street, Sawmill Street and South Mall.

It is likely that some roads & parking areas along low-lying quays in the city centre may suffer localised flooding during high tides; i.e. Morrison’s Quay, Fr Matthew Quay, Trinity Bridge, Union Quay, Sharman Crawford Street, Wandesford Quay, Frenche’s Quay, Proby’s Quay, Crosses Green, Lavitt’s Quay, Kyrl’s Quay and potentially reaching South Terrace, Rutland Street, Sawmill Street and South Mall.
