Phase 2 of the Community Recognition Fund have been announced by the Department of Rural and Community Development with Cork City communities being allocated a total of €602,937.

Phase 2 of the Community Recognition Fund has been announced by the Department of Rural and Community Development with Cork City communities being allocated a total of €602,937.

Communities across Cork will benefit from the funding which can be used to deliver upgrades and enhancements to sports facilities, community centres, parks, walking trails and playgrounds.

Those in receipt of the allocations are:

  • Mahon Community Centre: Insulation and painting €54,197
  • The Glen Resource Centre: Access and disability works €50,000
  • Foróige Digital Hub and Youth Café Development of a Youth Centre and Youth Café €150,000
  • Ballincollig Innishmore Playground: Update local playground equipment €83,740
  • Barrack Street Band: Replacement roof for new band room €70,000
  • Glen Resource Centre CLG (management company) South Parish Community Centre remedial building works €120,000
  • Neptune Stadium: Upgrade retractable seating €75,000

Lord Mayor Cllr Dan Boyle said: “I am delighted that key projects across our city will benefit from this funding. As a ‘City of Welcomes’, Cork communities continue to develop community led projects that deliver long term benefits to communities citywide, supporting those who now call Cork their home. This funding will create and support much needed community infrastructure at a local level, further enhancing communities across our city”.

Introduced in 2023, the funding provides communities with financial support to help new arrivals to Ireland. This year, the Department of Rural and Community Development announced funding of over €14 million under the grant for community groups across the country.
