Status Orange rainfall warning issued for Cork

Cork City Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team met this morning to assess the current Status Orange warning that is in place. Cork City Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team continues to monitor the Status Orange rain warning. The warning is effective until 6 p.m. on Friday 15th September 2023. Persistent heavy rainfall is expected to continue with a predicted 30 millimetres of rain to fall until 6 p.m. this evening. Localised flooding may occur during this time.
Due to heavy rainfall overnight, surface water is currently being seen in localised places across the city. Due to this, road users are asked to proceed with care when driving today.
Despite the heavy and persistent overnight rain no major issues or incidents were reported.
Cork City Council crews are on standby across the city to respond as required.

Cork City Council’s Severe Weather Assessment Team is monitoring the Status Orange rain warning which Met Éireann has issued for Cork. The warning is effective from 6 p.m. today, Thursday 14th September 2023, until 6 p.m. on Friday 15th September 2023. Persistent heavy rainfall, in excess of 50 millimetres, is expected over a 24 hour period.
Cork City Council crews are on standby across the city.
