Together and separately, they made a significant contribution to the city’s cultural life for over 40 years. The story is unique in that it is told primarily through the memories of their son David Goldberg and interviews with friends and relations who share their memories of this remarkable couple.

The Writing on the Walls by Alicia St Leger
This book is a history of a community’s life of faith and affection, heroism and loyal service expressed through the engravings on the walls of St Fin barre’s cathedral. These are valuable records chiselled on the walls chronicling the lives of generations of Cork city people.
This book is available for sale St. Fin Barre’s Cathedral Gift Shop, Waterstones, St Patrick’s Street and Dubray’s Bookshop, St. Patrick’s Street
Cork City Firefighters A Proud Record by Pat Poland
This is the final instalment in Pat Poland’s trilogy on the history of the evolution and development of the Fire and Rescue Service in his native city.
In this book of pictures, which includes a ‘Brigade Timeline’ from 1950, the author pays tribute, not alone to his former comrades in the Fire Service, but to the stellar corps of photographers – press, freelance and amateur – whose work illustrates these pages. By their sheer determination, professionalism and doggedness, often at great personal risk to capture the ‘right’ picture, they have ensured that a corpus of work survives to inform generations yet to come of the great fires of Cork and those who fought them.
This book is available for sale at Waterstone’s, St Patrick’s Street, Cork, The Bookstór, Newman’s Mall, Kinsale. Co. Cork and www.buythebook.ie
Faeries, Felon & Fine Gentlemen A History of The Glen by Gerard Martin O'Brien
This book traces the history of the Glen, now Glen River Park, and its progression from an industrial zone in the 18th century with mills, distillery and a fertiliser factor and also tells the story of the many industrial entrepreneurs, who established these industries in these locations. The narrative of this book brings the reader right up to the Glen River Park, the public amenity space it has become now.
Together with the ‘serious’ archival research that forms the greater part of this book, there are occasional personal recollections of the author, who grew up in the ‘Engineers House’ in the centre of the Glen in the 1950s and ‘60s.
The book is available for sale at Waterstones, Vibes and Scribes, and www.bluehorsepress.net
