Cork Mini Boat Adventure sets sail
Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Joe Kavanagh took the helm for the launch of the Cork Mini Boat Atlantic Adventure at Blackrock Pier. The mini boat has sailed across the Atlantic Ocean from Charleston, South Carolina, USA and arrived in Cork. We need your help designing the boat for the return journey across the Atlantic Ocean. To prepare for the adventure home Old Cork Waterworks Experience, Cork City Council and Creative Ireland are inviting Cork primary school children to submit designs inspired by Cork and its special relationship with the ocean. The designs will be used to create a collage which will be placed on the boat. The artwork will also be converted into a virtual exhibition and feature in a mini boat pocketbook to mark the project. To enter simply download the template here.
“Cork Mini Boat Atlantic Adventure” is supported by the Creative Ireland Programme, an all-of-Government five-year initiative, from 2017 to 2022, which places creativity at the centre of public policy. Further information from www.creativeireland.gov.ie
Educational Passages is a not-for-profit organization that spreads ocean and environmental literacy. The program introduces participants to sailing, engages in collaborative learning through international cultural experiences to increase the understanding of the value of water on our planet as a shared resource through ocean literacy.
