Cork Bike Week 2024
National Bike Week was launched to raise the profile of cycling as a fun and sustainable mode of transport and as a healthy physical activity. It is organised by the National Transport Authority, via the network of local authorities and their partners.
Cork Bike Week is organised by Cork City Council in conjunction with the Cork Sports Partnership, local community groups, youth groups, clubs, schools and other organisations.
This year, there are over 100 cycling-related events to choose from. So, join us, get on your bike, and enjoy a week of cycling activities!

Down the Line for a 99 Family Fun Cycle
Down the Line for a 99! Fun and sociable cycle for families/ occasional cyclists. Start at Pairc Ui Chaoimh, cycle along ‘The Line’ to Passage West for a free ice cream and back!

Bike Week Olympics Fun & Games Picnic
A fun play focussed event aimed particularly and children and families but open to all to discover their fun side. A social picnic will be accompanied by fun bike games such as a slow race obstacle course etc.

Bike Week Opening Night Midnight Cycle Of Lights
A fun slow & social bike parade to open bike week along the cycle lanes of the city centre with lights to light the dark.

Bike Week Cycle To Passage
A cycle out to Passage out the old railway greenway. There will be a break for a picnic in Passage before beginning the journey back to the city.

Cork Coffee by Bike With Cork Cycling Campaign
Join Cork Cycling Campaign on a tour of the city’s best independent coffee spots by bike, discover new routes and sample new blends in this easy-going social cycle.

Fix Your Bike & Guided Cycle
This special Fix Your Bike session will allow people to learn how to fix their bikes with the help of mechanics from Cork Community Bikes. Guided rides to the workshop will leave Cork Opera House at 1.45pm and 3pm. Mechanics will run through full bike checks with you, and a limited amount of small parts will be offered for free for repairs. Refreshments provided.

How to do a quick bike safety and maintenance check and demonstration of a few basic repairs and adjustments as require by participants. To make it easier for people to begin and continue cycling by enabling them to at least spot potential problems on their bike which would otherwise make cycling difficult and so discourage them from continuing cycling and ideally enable them to solve minor problems themselves.

Cork Bike Hire – Getting the workforce active in the middle of the day – Refresh, Recharge, and Return Ready to Conquer the Afternoon!” Participants cycle the Cork Harbour Greenway or part of it during their lunchtime on an ebike. Rebel Wheelers Duathlon Event in Association with Triathlon Ireland
Open up the idea of participating in Duathlon and Triathlon Events to those with physical disabilities, Hoping to hold the event in the Crann Centre in Ovens again this year with members and their families partaking in bike training and running, pushing etc. We would have training drills and finish with a mini duathlon event.

Fixing Bikes With Afghan Refugees
The group of refugees will be invited to bring bikes along and mechanics from Cork Community Bikes will show them how to check a bike to make sure it’s safe and comfortable to cycle. An Afghan interpreter will help with this. Mechanics will carry out minor repairs on the bikes. No problem if you don’t have a bike with you, you can learn from other bikes.

An unforgettable journey into the night as we cycle from Blackrock Castle out around Mahon strand and back along the Old railway line. This event will follow directly from the “Cycle through time” to Blackrock Castle. The Cycle will finish back in the city centre.

The majority of this cycle will be off road and most of the rest on very quiet roads, it will be slow and easy so is particularly suited to those who are less confident cyclists A Cycle out along the river to the Lee Fields, then along the Greenway behind CIT to Curraheen, though quite estate roads to the Greenway parallel to the N22 between the Bandon Road and Wilton, though quite estate roads and across the Cycle/Pedestrian bridge to Togher cross to join the Greenway Parallel to the N22 into the Tramore Valley Park for t a picnic stop, leave the park via the Greenway Parallel to the N22 to Douglas Village, through the village to the Park on to the Green way to Donnybrook, back through Douglas village to the Green way behind Besskrook to Mahon Strand, past Blackrock Castle and alone the Marine back to the city.

By offering this opportunity, attendees can detect and address issues early, leading to savings on repairs. Rainbow Cycle
The Rainbow Cycle with Gay Project & Queer Bike Rides Cork! This year Gay Project is teaming up with the newly formed Queer Bike Rides Cork to highlight the group and support their growth through this joint effort. The group provides a safe and inclusive space for individuals within the LGBT+ community to connect and build relationships while enjoying a shared interest in cycling. Additionally the event aims to promote physical activity and mental well-being to a community that faces unique health disparities. Social cycle for LGBTI+ adults along the Marina Greenway route followed by coffee and chats. The cycle will be led by trained ride leaders. Bikes can be provided for up to 20 participants so all members of the community have less barriers to participation. Participants are also welcome to bring their own bikes.
