NOTE FOR BLIND OR VISION IMPAIRED VOTERS

Voters who are blind or vision impaired have the option at the election of voting independently by using a Ballot Paper Template (BPT), which will enable a person to mark their ballot paper without assistance if they wish to do so. A Freephone number is be available for voters intending to use the template 1800 283 034. It lists out the names and particulars of the candidates in the order in which they appear on the ballot paper. Cork City Council has five Local Electoral Areas, so callers can press numbers 1 to 5 to select the correct area when prompted after the call is underway. This Freephone number is available up to and including polling day. This means that voters can listen to the candidate line-up from the comfort of their homes as often as they wish in advance of polling day and, if they wish, can again listen to it on their mobile phones at the polling station.
