Cork Lifelong Learning Festival 2022 launches this Tuesday 22nd March in the Council Chambers Cork City Hall. After a break of two years we're excited to be back and really looking forward to this year's festival.

The festival organisers are delighted to launch the festival programme packed full of free learning events due to take place from Monday 4th to Sunday 10th of April.

During festival week almost 350 individual lifelong learning events will take place all over Cork City. One of the key aspects of the festival is the opportunity for members of the public regardless of age, interest, or abilities to ‘give it a go’ and learn something new through workshops, demonstrations, classes, walks, talks and lectures. As the Festival motto says, this is a great opportunity to ‘Investigate, Participate and Celebrate’ the kaleidoscope learning opportunities in our city.

Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr. Colm Kelleher said: "The Cork Lifelong Learning Festival is a key event in the calendar of our city and is a great focus for positivity and celebration in the Spring.  The Festival’s motto of ‘Investigate, Participate and Celebrate’ is particularly appropriate this year as we emerge from two years of the pandemic and reconnect in a true Festival of the people, an Féile Foghlama."

Festival Chair Willie McAuliffe said: “ The Lifelong Learning Festival is an excellent example of how agencies can come together and create something wonderful for our City. The Festival makes our city a Learning City.  Cork is recognised globally as an exceptional example of a UNESCO Learning City and the Cork Lifelong Learning Festival is the foundation for this. This is a partnership between Cork ETB, UCC, MTU Cork City Council and the HSE and NAPD, with all our sponsors. There is a real appetite in Cork for lifelong learning and we owe a debt of gratitude to our event hosts who haven’t forgotten the festival and are back to join us in celebrating Lifelong Learning the way Cork does best”.

Corks Lifelong Learning Festival events are free to attend and open to all. This year’s programme includes performances, poetry, workshops, walks and demonstrations. With something for everyone, the only limit is your appetite to try something new in 2022!

A highlight of this years programme is the International Learning Cities Conference on Thursday April 7th in the Triskel Christchurch Arts Centre which will feature guest speakers from Learning Cities in the USA, Europe, the UK and across the island of Ireland.

All events are hosted by festival friends and allies, including community organisations, private businesses, universities, schools or colleges. The free printed festival programmes are available from Cork City Hall, in all Cork City libraries, from host venues and online via https://corklearningcity.ie/lifelong-learning-festival/
