Housing Grants For Private Homeowners

The Housing Adaptation Grants for Older People and Disabled People are available to help older people and disabled people living in a privately-owned home. These grants are used to carry out works to make the property more suitable for the older person or disabled person who is a member of the household.

Applications will be prioritised on the basis of medical need and will be subject to the availability of funding.

There are three grants available. The grants are:

  1. Housing Adaptation Grant for People with a Disability (page 3-4)

The person who the grant is for must:

•    have the grant application approved before the work starts on the home;

•    live in the home when the work is completed;

•    supply evidence of income

•    have tax clearance from Revenue if the grant is for more than €10,000, or if more than one grant has been paid out in a 12 month period.
