High Astronomical Spring Tides Notice

Cork City Council wish to advise that there will be a period of naturally occurring very high astronomical Spring Tides continuing from this evening (Tuesday) lasting until the weekend.
Met Eireann have also advised Cork City Council due to a combination of forecasted strong winds and high waves associated with the storm front crossing the Atlantic at present, a significant storm surge may result in localised tidal flooding over the coming days. The combination of both of these events may result is some localised tidal flooding along low lying quays in the City.
At this point in time no property damage or road closures are predicted. It is anticipated that the flooding will be restricted to ponding on the usual low-lying quays (see below).
The natural cycle of High Tides for the following days is predicted for:

It is highly likely that road ponding/flooding may occur in the low-lying areas of the City (particularly during the hightides on this Wednesday and Thursday evenings):
- Morrison’s Quay
- Fr. Mathew Quay
- Fr. Mathew Street
- Union Quay
- Trinity Bridge
- South Terrace
- Rutland Street
- Sawmill Street
- Crosses Green
- Sharman Crawford St
- Wandesford Quay
- South Mall (particularly the southern side)
