Operational works ongoing at Atlantic Pond wastewater pumping station, Cork City

Uisce Éireann crews, supported by Cork City Council and specialist operators, have been on the ground since last night to resolve the issues at the Atlantic Pond wastewater pumping station following equipment failure. 

To reduce the risk of wastewater flooding homes and businesses, some overflows have been opened as a temporary measure. Additionally, the wastewater is being captured by a team of tankers who worked through last night and today to mitigate the issues.

Uisce Éireann’s incident management team is liaising with the EPA and Cork City Council at all stages of operations. We are continuing to monitor the situation, however as of now no further road closures are planned.

Uisce Éireann apologises for any inconvenience and would like to assure the local community that we are working to resolve this issue as a matter of priority.
